Rules and Regs

While this is an event aimed at having fun, we do have to have some basic rules. Take a few minutes to read through them before submitting your entry.

*This SEO Challenge is a friendly competition to allow SEO’s to showcase their talents by trying to rank #1 on Google.co.nz for the official keyword phrase on the competition deadline of Sunday November 28th at 5:00pm. It is 100% free! (Just need to register a new domain and arrange your hosting)

*Due to the prize location and text announcement of the keyword phrase, participants are required to be based in New Zealand.

*Websites / domains existing prior to August 19th are not allowed to be used in the competition; a new domain name must be created after this date.

*Domain names must be a .co.nz

*Only ethical SEO techniques may be engaged and the judges reserve the right to review the techniques engaged by the winner to ensure they comply. Dodgy black hat tactics shouldn’t be part of your strategy. White..Best, Grey..ok (For more info on black hat techniques check out http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769)

*Webpage content should be about your interpretation of what the keyword phrase means, can be an article, news, poll, resource page etc.

*In order to win the first prize, your website must place first in Google.co.nz (organic rankings) for the search term on Sunday November 28th at 5:00pm abiding by all rules. The official search will be made on a computer in Christchurch, cleared cache, logged out, and cleared history.

*For the purpose of this competition, any unregistered or unknown listings in the SERPs that have not registered (either by text registration or website form late registration) will not be counted.

*All participants must register their contact details and website address they are using in the challenge (see below on how to register)

*In order to qualify for the prize, an entry must have a visible dofollow link to the official site on the site homepage. New Zealand SEO Challenge
Important Note: Required link should be on the home page through out the competition and should not be removed. The organizer and the host of the competition have the rights to disqualify any participant if they find the links removed or tagged by the entrants as NOFOLLOW during the competition.

*Domain / subdomain name must not contain the keyword phrase. If more than 3 subsequent characters from the official keyword are present in a domain it will be void. This means if the keyword is ‘example’ www.exatest.co.nz is ok, however www.examtest.co.nz is not. Pages can contain the keyword phrase e.g.www.exatest.co.nz/example. This also applies to 301 redirects.

*There is no limit on the number of entries but each new entry requires registration.

*Only registered entrants and valid entries are eligible to compete and win the prize.
